Using the Norwich Cisco VPN

Norwich VPN login

The Norwich University VPN allows staff to work remotely yet access our IT systems as easily as if they were on campus. With this convenience comes additional risk to those systems from bad actors. To mitigate that risk, we will be adding multifactor authentication to the VPN connection process by incorporating it into the Norwich University single sign-on (SSO) system.

NOTE: The Cisco AnyConnect VPN client is only permitted for use by faculty and staff on Norwich owned and managed machines. Use on personal devices or any device not owned or managed by Norwich University is a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy and creates a security risk to the institution.

  1. Search 'Cisco AnyConnect' in your Windows Search Bar or in Spotlight on your Mac.
  2. After selecting the app, you should see a box similar as this.

  1. Please input 'vpn.norwich.edu' into the VPN field.

  1. After selecting 'Connect', you will be asked to sign in. Please use your Norwich credentials, and then select 'Ok':

  1. Now that SSO has been enable for the VPN you will be redirected to this authentication window. (Regardless of OS you will get the Microsoft authentication window).

  1. Complete the login process as you would with any other SSO application, including secondary authentication via the Authenticator app, text message, or phone.

This simple change will go a long way toward improving our security. Thank you for all you do to help keep our systems secure.
