Sending & Receiving Encrypted Emails

If you need to send sensitive information to any individual, you should use encrypted email.

1. Log into your Office 365 by going to http://sso.norwich.edu

2. Click the Outlook app to access your email.

3. Click New message to start a new message.

4. On the new email, click Encrypt to turn on encryption.

5. Fill in the To, Subject, and message body fields and attach any attachments that need to be sent. Once complete, click send.

Receiving Encrypted Email

Non-Norwich email addresses will receive a message prompting them to click a Read the message button within the email.  orwich.edu recipients will receive the message delivered to their inbox without having to perform any additional steps.

Once they click the Read the message button, the following will be displayed. Click the Sign in with a One-time passcode:

This will bring them to a web page where they will log in with a one-time passcode which will also be sent to their email address. Enter the passcode received and click Continue to read the message.

How to set the email to Encrypt and Do Not Forward:

Selecting the email so it can not be forwarded is as simple as clicking Encryption and then checking Do Not Forward. Not only will this encrypt the email, but also prevent it from being forwarded to other mailboxes.
