The Knowbe4 Phish Alert Button

The Phish Alert Button (PAB) allows users to report phishing emails that are either legitimate or simulated phishing emails from the NU Security Team. The PAB is an essential measure in protecting Norwich from a constant cyber threat that all can participate in improving the university's security.

This document is geared to help you locate the PAB in outlook. The standard logo for the PAB looks like an opened letter with an orange hook. Below is an example of what the PAB generally looks like:

PLEASE NOTE: THE PAB BUTTON IS UNSUPPORTED IN SHARED MAILBOXES. PLEASE JUST DELETE THE SUSPECT MESSAGES.

I don't see the Phish Alert Button, what do I do?

Outlook Client on Windows:

On Windows, the client looks at the top right; you should see a little bar arrow. Clicking on this arrow lets you move the bar over, and the Phish Alert button should now be visible.

Outlook Web:

Once logged into the Web version of Outlook, open an email that seems to be a Phishing email and look at the top by the sender and recipient of the email. Off to the right, located by the reply, reply-all, and forward buttons, is the Phish Alert Button. See the images below for context.

The Phish Alert Button can sometimes appear under the three dots over to the far right when you have opened an email.

In addition, it can also be under the App Icon in Outlook both in the web and client version:

Outlook Client on Mac:

In the Client application on Mac you should see at the top just under the search bar a toolbar (see image). Here is where the PAB should but if not, we can pin it to the toolbar for easy access.

If the PAB does not appear like above, click on three dots at the end of the toolbar next to “Sync”.

A drop-down menu should appear, and here you should see the Phish Alert Button as a selection. To pin the PAB to the Toolbar go down and click on “Customize Toolbar…”

This should open a large window with all the add-ins that can be used to customize the Toolbar. Find Phish Alert on the right side and Click and Drag the Phish Alert Add-in to the top.

Your Toolbar should now look like this:

You can now click done, and you should have the PAB pined to the Toolbar to report Phishing Emails.
