How to tell you are logging into the legitmate Norwich Microsoft portal

Understanding:

Logging into the Norwich Microsoft portal differs from other portals, such as the generic Microsoft portal, in terms of its background image.

The Norwich Microsoft portal provides a unique user experience with a background image that is customized to reflect the identity, branding, or aesthetics of Norwich. This background image might feature Norwich-specific landmarks, logos, or themes relevant to the Norwich community. You will see this image AFTER you input your email.

In contrast, the generic Microsoft portal typically uses a standard or generic background image that may not have any specific relevance to a particular organization or community. It is generally blank with no recognizable details.

When you see the Norwich Background of Jackman Hall after inputting your email and see that the URL is a regular login.microsoftonline.com link you can be confident you are logging in to access Norwich resources. Any other login screen should be accessed cautiously, as Norwich does not manage it and can be malicious. Non-Norwich login pages could be set up to try to have you attempt to sign in and steal your account information (Username and Password). Obviously, all login pages besides Norwich's are not malicious, so if you are attempting to login into one and would like it reviewed first, don't hesitate to create a ticket by emailing helpdesk@norwich.edu and it will get assigned to the Security Team for review.
