How to: Access the Language Placement Exams

This article provides steps to take the language placement exams.

The Language Placement Exam is required for all Norwich University students who will be taking any Modern Language.
The assessment and its results provide guidance during advising on what classes to place you in.

Steps to access the Language Placement Exam:

  1. Navigate to UnifyNU. If you do not know how to get there, follow this guide: norwich.fyi/unify

  2. Once you see the UnifyNU page, click Academics in the navigation bar at the top of the page

  3. Look for the experience card labelled, 'Student Self Service' and click 'Open Student Dashboard'

  4. When the Student Self Service page loads, click 'Language Placement Exam' from the 'Curriculum & Test Scores' section in the middle of the page

  1. This will launch a new page in your web browser where you must create an account for Emmersion.  This account should include your Norwich email address and A#.  This service and account is not managed by Norwich IT and is separate from your Norwich Microsoft account.  Please retain the account password so you can continue to access the product if needed in the future.

  2. After creating your account, use the sign-in linkUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  3. Complete authentication with the email and password you just created. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  4. Select the language to take the assessment for that language.
    You do not need to take every assessment and the assessments below may differ from what you see in the Emmersion portalUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  5. Complete the assessment. The scores will be recorded automatically in your student record.
