A Language Placement Exam is requested for all Norwich University students who will be taking Modern Languages. The assessment and its results provide guidance for the Modern Languages Staff on what classes to place you in.
Please review the steps below to access the Language Placement tests.
- Navigate to the Unify Norwich web page and complete authentication.
- After completing authentication successfully, you may need to complete MFA verification.

- On the Unify Page, please click on "Student Self-Service."
- From "Student Self-Service," you will, from the "Curriculum and Test Scores column," want to select "Language Placement."
- This will launch a new page in your web browser. If either of the first two conditions matches your situation, you will not need to take the exam.
- You have to create an account for Emmersion. This account should include your Norwich email address and A#. This account is not managed by Norwich IT and is separate from your Norwich MyApps account. Please retain the account password so you can continue to access the product if needed in the future.
- Your username will be the email you used to create the account. After creating your account, use the sign-in link
- Complete authentication with the email and password you just created.
- Select which language you are assessing.
- Complete the testing. The scores will be recorded automatically in your student record.
