Body

This document provides the rules regarding the release of iPads from Norwich Jamf management.

  1. Ownership and Release

The iPad remains the property of Norwich University until it is paid for in full. The iPad fee is divided between the student's first two bills. If the student leaves after a single term, the second fee will be charged against any refund due or an additional charge added before the iPad is released. Otherwise, the iPad will be released from management only after the student disenrolls from the university or graduates.

  1. Pushed Apps and Course Content

Released iPads will not receive university-pushed apps or course content. Students are responsible for installing and maintaining their apps and course content if they want it released before the above trigger events.

  1. Removal of Management Token and Data Concerns

The data and documents stored on the student's iPad are solely the student's responsibility.  Within iOS, both Apple and Norwich University provide a robust set of tools.  Students can back up local content on the iPad to OneDrive1 or Apple iCloud2. After Norwich University releases the iPad, the student is responsible for backing up their data.  After confirmation that it has been released, the end-user will have to erase the device to remove the management token from the iPad.

  1. Student Responsibility

The student is responsible for the care and maintenance of the iPad. The iPads are covered under a combination of Apple Care+ or self-insured by the University.  Repair and replacement fees may be charged depending on the type of failure or damage the unit exhibits.

  1. iPad return

iPads cannot be returned for a refund with the following exception.  Any student leaving the University in their first semester may return the iPad if they disenroll before the end of Add/Drop. The return of the iPad will be credited against any student's outstanding balance.  Opened iPads returned during this period will incur a restocking fee of $40.00.  The amount credited to the student account will also depend on the returns' completeness.  Additional fees will be applied to the refund for missing Apple pencil, charger cable, or case.

  1. Students who graduate or leave the University will retain the Microsoft Office License for 60 days.  Students should back up all OneDrive content and email messages before this period lapses, or they will lose access to this content, and it will be deleted.

  1. Apple iCloud and iCloud backup require users to have an Apple ID/account. Apple offers 5GB free to all iCloud users.  Apple offers paid plans for storage in iCloud that are more than the 5GB default.
