How To: Turn on 802.1x authentication for Windows 10

Summary

This article will guide you in connecting to the network via ethernet cable.

Press the windows key, and the letter ‘R’ on your keyboard.
Type in services.msc and hit enter.
In the management console, select services from Services and Applications at the bottom of the left hand column.
Select Wired Autoconfig
Set startup to Automatic
Start the service, and click apply.
Go to Network and sharing Control Panel.
In the left hand column, click on the line “Change adapter settings”.
Right click on the local network connection port and select Properties.
In the new window that appears click on the tab labeled "Authentication."
Click on the "Settings" button next to "Protected EAP (PEAP)". Uncheck the box next to "Validate server certificate."
In the Select Authenitcation Method be sure to select EAP-MSCHAP v2 (Should be there by default).
Click configure to the right and make sure that "Automatically use my Windows logon and password.." is not selected and click OK.
You should remove the check from "Fallback to unauthorized network access."
Now scroll to the bottom of the main interface window, (see image at step 10) and click on the button labeled "Additional settings."
In the new window, at the top, you’ll want to select “User Authentication” and then click delete credentials. It should then ask you for username, and password. Enter your Norwich identity as (username)@norwich.edu, and your Norwich password.
Click apply, or Ok, on every open box as you exit; If you click on the red X, it will NOT save the changes you have made.
