How To: Print From Personal iOS and iPadOS Devices

Recent changes by Apple have forced Norwich ITS to adjust how users print from personally owned iOS and iPadOS devices. The steps below will guide you through the process.

On your iPhone or iPad

Ensure your device is connected to the Norwich Wi-Fi network

Go to http://printservermp:9163/client-setup/known-host/ios.html

  1. Press the 'Download' button to download the mobile configuration profile

  2. You will get a pop up notification asking you to allow the download, press Allow

  3. Afterr pressing Allow, the profile will download and you will see this message, press Close

  4. Open the Settings app, on the main view in Settings, you will see a selection with the words 'Profile Downloaded', select that section to install the profile

  5. When the profile opens, press Install

  6. You will be asked to enter your PIN code that unlocks your device, do so now

  7. You will be asked to install the profile, press InstallUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  8. Once installed, you will see this message, press the check mark, or swipe up to close the Settings app

You can now print to any printer that has been made available to you using this print method.

  1. When you are ready to print, use the Share button from the app you are attempting to print from

  2. If needed, press the three horizontal dots to open the extended menu, then find and press Print

  1. Press the space to the right of the word Printers to open the printer selection dialog

  2. Scroll to find the printer you need to use and press the name to select it

  3. If prompted, enter your username, the prefix of your email, so everything before the @ in your email, and current Norwich password and press OK

  4. After you press OK, your print job should be sent to the printer you selected

 

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Hold for Authentication Error

If you ever receive an error that says 'Hold for Authentication', you will need to reset the password associated with that printer. To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. While in the printer selection view, press the i to the right of the printer's name while in the printer list view

  2. Press Forget Username and Password

  3. Then continue from the Printer Selection step above
