How to Restore a Previous Version of Files or Folders

  • Navigate to the file or folder that you wish to restore to a previous version
  • Right-click on the file or folder
  • If you're using Windows 11, you will need to click Show More Options at the bottom of the list
  • Select Restore Previous Versions (note: may not be available on all files and folders)
  • A list of available previous versions of the file or folder will appear.
  • Select the version you wish to restore to, and click Open to make sure it's the right version.
    • You may not be able to open all versions. versions created by Windows Backup cannot be opened but can be restored.
  • Once you have the right version, select the version and click Restore.
  • The file/folder will replace the current version on your computer. Please note that this replacement cannot be undone.
