Reset your Password

To reset your password and get back into your account

  1. Go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/?whr=norwich.edu and click the sign-in button in the upper right corner of the screen.

  1. Enter your Norwich email address, less the "stu," complete the character challenge, and click next.

 

  1. Select "I forgot my password." and click Next.  If you select the other option, this will only "unlock your account" should you have failed multiple authentications and your account was locked. 
  2. In the "Get back into your account" select your method of recovery. Unlike MFA, you can use text code, MFA codes, email, and call to get the reset code.
  3. Choose one of the available methods to verify your identity and change your password:
    Verification Step 1
    • Reset your password using a text message. Sends a text message to the phone number you previously set up in security information.
      1. Select Text my mobile phone, type your phone number, and then select Text.
      2. Type the verification code from the text message into the box, and then select Next.
      3. Type and confirm your new password, and then select Finish.
         
    •  Reset your password using a phone number. Sends a text message to the phone number you previously set up in your security information.
    1. Select Call my mobile phone, type your phone number, and then select Call.
    2. Answer the phone call and follow the instructions to verify your identity, and then select Next.
    3. Type and confirm your new password, and then select Finish.
  • Reset your password using security questions. Shows you the list of security questions you set up in the security information.
    1. Select Answer my security questions, answer the questions, and then select Next.
    2. Type and confirm your new password, and then select Finish.
  • Reset your password using an alternate email. After entering your alternate email associated with your account, you will receive a six-digit security code on the corresponding email.
NOTE
  • Your new password must meet certain requirements. Your password must be at least 14 characters. It must contain a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, at least one number, and at least one symbol.
  • Tip: Passwords can be sentences. If you include proper capitalization, include a number and a symbol, you have a strong, easy to remember password.

If you still can't access your account, you should contact the helpdesk for assistance.

After resetting your password, you might get a confirmation email that comes from an account like, "Microsoft on behalf of Norwich University." If you get a similar email, but you didn't recently reset your password, please contact the helpdesk at 802-485-2456 immediately.
