How to Update Your Password on a Norwich Jamf Managed Mac
Norwich University is currently changing the way we manage our Macintosh Computers. Gone are the days of joining the local Active Directory server and syncing password from there. For the Mac this would often result in password mis-matches, issues syncing local password to Norwich password, and problems ultimately with File Vault. Norwich now employs a new management portal for the Apple hardware called JamfPro. With Jamf Pro we have installed an application called Jamf Connect that links your Norwich (Azure) Account to the local account on the machine. When it is time to reset your password please follow these steps.
- Please find Jamf Connect. It is likely in your Menu Bar. The icon is a square with the letter J in it. If the application is not running you can find it in your Applications folder.
- Click on the icon to reveal the options. The first thing you will want to select is "Connect."
- If you still need to authenticate, select Sign-in. Otherwise, it will say "Connect" in that space. When you choose Sing-in, you will be presented with an Office365 authentication window. Please enter your Norwich email address and current password.
- After you complete the steps to connect, please select "Change Password."
- This will open a new window on the screen that looks like the standard Office365 password change box.
- Enter your current password and then your new password twice. Jamf Connect will now update your Norwich account password as well as the local password on your machine (Including Filevault).
